REGION OF WATERLOO, ON (November 8, 2023) – The Waterloo Region Association of REALTORS® (WRAR) is proud to announce it recently donated $43,636.87 to Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region (HFHWR) from funds raised at its second Annual Charity Golf Tournament held on Thursday, September 14th, 2023, at the Rebel Creek Golf Club.
The golf tournament sold out quickly this year, but that didn’t stop the community from participating in the cause. The online auction, which ran for two weeks leading up to the tournament, contributed to the overall donation.
“With the unwavering contributions of our gracious sponsors, compassionate donors, active community members, and dedicated volunteers, we are thrilled to be in the position to continue to support such a great cause in our community,” said Megan Bell, President of the WRAR. “WRAR takes immense pride in the partnership with Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region, an organization dedicated to turning the dreams of affordable housing into a reality for our community.”
HFHWR partners with lower-income families to help them build strength, stability, and independence through affordable homeownership. Philip Mills, Habitat CEO, says that families are struggling more than ever with affordable homeownership.
“The reality is we cannot tackle this alone. Every partnership we build certainly impacts others around us, and for us, that impact is on families and their dream of owning a safe and affordable place to call home. WRAR has long partnered with the Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region and continues to maintain this relationship. We look forward to being a part of the projects to come. Because of WRAR’s commitment to affordable housing, we will impact so many more families together than we ever could on our own. For that, we are so grateful to the members of WRAR. This is such a valuable partnership for us at Habitat Waterloo Region.”
The construction at the Kehl Street build site, a substantial 45-unit complex, is nearing completion under the diligent efforts of HFHWR. WRAR has been a steadfast partner in this project from its inception and remains committed to supporting HFHWR in its future endeavours. HFHWR continues to drive positive change in the community, evident in their ongoing initiatives such as the New Cambridge Build and their collaboration with Building Now: Waterloo Region. These projects are vital responses to the pressing affordable housing crisis, focusing on constructing new homes with the valuable assistance of volunteers and local partners.
