“With the unwavering contributions of our gracious sponsors, compassionate donors, active community members, and dedicated volunteers, we are thrilled to be in the position to continue to support such a great cause in our community,” said Megan Bell, President of the WRAR. “WRAR takes immense pride in the partnership with Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region, an organization dedicated to turning the dreams of affordable housing into a reality for our community.”
Housing affordability and attainability are at crisis levels in Waterloo Region, and the Waterloo Region Association of Realtors® (WRAR) has been calling for action to build more housing that families can afford.
“Almost four in ten Waterloo residents are spending more than 30 per cent of their total household income on housing,” said Megan Bell, President of WRAR. “The bottom line is the high cost of housing is being driven by a lack of attainable housing supply in the region. The problem is particularly bad among millennials and young people.”
Members from the Waterloo Region Association of REALTORS® (WRAR) came together from November 14- 18 during REALTORS Care® Week to host a “Boots & Coats Drive” and collect donations on behalf of The Bridges – Cambridge Shelter Corporation and the YW Emergency Shelter.
On Thursday, the Waterloo Region Association of REALTORS® (WRAR) presented a cheque in the amount of $43,566 to Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region (HFHWR).
